The main thing is, is that it is so easy to use and great fun as well, with several operating modes to suit any style of working. Budget loopers are great, but you will bump into limitations so, if you want to play with the big boys, this is the one to go for! An adapter is included. There are one or two minor scuffs to the side and bottom of the case which have been touched in with a paint pen. Please view the photographs to judge for yourself on the physical condition. Introducing the RC-50 — the most feature-laden Loop Station BOSS has ever built. It’s the best live looping tool ever built for that matter. Housed in a spacious seven-footswitch floor unit, the RC-50 lets you manipulate three stereo phrase tracks simultaneously. Each track supports multiple overdubs, so phrases can be stacked one by one on each track, resulting in a monstrous layer of looped phrases. With a single RC-50, a guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, or vocalist can create a perfectly synced wall of sound live onstage. There are three simultaneous stereo phrase channels on the RC-50, each with a dedicated footswitch. For scenarios such as these, the RC-50 can be locked to an external MIDI clock source, ensuring that its loop performances are absolutely locked to the rest of the show. Internally, the RC-50 offers Loop Quantize for easy loop recording, plus Loop Sync (which enables all phrases to start in sync), and Tempo Sync (which matches the tempo of multiple phrases during playback). Why record to a stale click track when you can jam with rockin’ grooves instead? Phrases can be retriggered in “free time” or on a time-aligned grid. The photographs are of the actual items offered for sale, and not library photos.http://www.diabetesbible.com/userfiles/boss-loop-station-rc-2-user-manual.xml

Whilst every endeavour is made to ensure this information is accurate, we might slip up from time to time, in which case we apologise. Now comes an ultra-compact member of the RC family, the RC-2. House in a compact-pedal case, the RC-2 puts a surprising amount of features in a small stompbox. Each of your layered loop creations can be stored to one of 11 internal patch preset locations. As powerful as this little Loop Station is, it's a dream to operate. Thanks to its clearly labeled buttons and knobs, the RC-2 puts everything directly under your fingertips, with no hidden menus or commands to impede the creative process. Due to its standard compact-pedal shape and size, the RC-2 fits perfectly alongside other BOSS pedals. Great for fast setup and convenient transportation. With the super-deluxe RC-50 at the top of the line, and the twin-size RC-20XL in the middle of the range, the RC-2 represents the most compact and affordable Loop Station.

You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish. If you're a solo artist who wishes to add some self-accompaniment and beef up your sound, or to create your own practice backing tracks quickly and easily to develop you soloing over, or maybe if you are just in the market for a new Loop Pedal, then read on. Also check out the accompanying video where you can see and hear the pedal in use as I demo it. Back in the day loopers used to be fiendishly complicated bits of kit with multiple buttons and sequences to go through to get them working. Thankfully, over time this process has been made far simpler and more user friendly. This particular model, for example, has just one knob for the level, an LED indicator, and a pedal. It also has a stereo in and out option, plus another out for an additional pedal if you wish to take your looping to the next level. Like the other Boss pedals you'll no doubt be familiar with, it's powered by a 9v battery or the standard Boss power supply, and as you would expect, it's built like a tank.

One cool feature is that a recorded phrase is retained in the pedal's memory even after it's turned off, which is great news if you have just put down a perfect loop and there is a power cut, or the battery runs out. Well I didn’t need to break out the instruction manual, which is always a great sign. Start playing, press the pedal once and it will start recording, press it again to finish that loop and start an overdub, press it twice to stop. Simple! To start all over again, press and hold the pedal down for two seconds. The 24 segment LED loop indicator is laid out in a circular pattern, and traces around to show you where you are in the loop. Even by Boss's own admission this is a bit of a gimmick, but it’s also quite handy to see where you are in the loop, especially if it’s a long one, and it helps getting your next one in time. It may be because I have used various loopers in the past that I find it so easy to drive, but I'm quite sure a virgin looper would have no problems getting to grips with this one, quite quickly. The level knob is great for controlling how much you have coming through, and you only have to press the pedal lightly to get it working, it's very intuitive. My only gripe (and it's not confined to this looper) is that you have to press the pedal twice to get a loop to stop, which can be quite awkward; and why when you hold down to delete what you have done does it have to play the loop back at you until its cleared. Would it not be possible to have it offer a silent delete. Yes, you could turn the volume down but again it's something to think about. These are only small issues, and the pedal as it’s intended works great. Live looping has quickly become a technique that has taken the art of live performance to a whole new level. Any musician, from bedroom producers to guitar gods, can add their own flair to their part, solo or track by using a Loop Station live on stage. Looping can even inspire a completely new song when used in the studio!

But what is looping and how can you add it to your repertoire. What you do next with this phrase is up to you. But don’t stop there. The real power of looping comes from “overdubbing”. This is the process of recording over the previously recorded phrase. It’s similar to the same way you would overdub vocals when recording a song. Adding overdubs gives depth to your phrase and takes your looping to the next level.Well, get out your instrument of choice and your Loop Station. Here is a step-by-step guide to get you looping! The OUTPUT then goes to your amp. Make sure you have power for your pedal (by BOSS PSA DC adaptor or 9V battery) and we are set to loop! Looping your first phrase is super easy. The flowchart below shows you how you can make your first phrase using the BOSS RC-1 in THREE easy steps. Click image to enlarge. First step is to think about WHAT you want to loop. Let’s start with one four-count bar of a G major chord. Strum a rhythm and count:Now this time around, you will start recording on bar two by pressing once to make a start point of the phrase and then once again for the end point. Recording will be marked when the red REC LED is lit. Let’s start. Strum the same rhythm again for bar one and count: 1, 2, 3, 4. When you get to the “1” of bar two, step once on the Loop Station. Count 2, 3, 4 and on the next “1”, step once on the pedal again and stop playing your guitar. You will now hear a phrase of your G major chord looping over and over. Congrats, you’ve made your first loop! Your phrase is now playing in overdub mode. Let’s move to Step 2 to expand our phrase! When you want to mark the end point, you actually have two options; you can keep recording or you can just hear your phrase played back. Let’s look at the flowchart once again.OVERDUB mode is engaged by pressing the footswitch ONCE to mark the end point and is indicated by both red and green LEDs being lit.

This mode keeps on recording so anything you play “over the top” of the phrase will record. Let’s give that a try! Make a loop and engage OVERDUB mode. Start playing another version of the G major chord, then stop playing while leaving the Loop Station play. You can now hear both parts playing over each other. If you are finished overdubbing, press the footswitch ONCE again. You are now in PLAYBACK mode.Importantly, you can not record in PLAYBACK mode but you can play over the top. This is perfect for practising solos over your looped chords. You can see if you are in PLAYBACK mode if just the GREEN “Play” LED is on. You can go from RECORD mode straight to PLAYBACK by hitting the footswitch TWICE SLOWLY when marking the end point in Step 1.You can do this at any time in the looping process to stop your phrase from playing back and you are back to Step 1. Well done! You have just become a Looping Apprentice but you have only scratched the looping surface. It all comes down to your own creative voice and vision. Once you get into the finer points of looping, you will start to see the Loop Station as an instrument onto itself and it will inspire you to look at your own instrument a bit differently. If you are interested, want to provide a review, user tips, or have any information on using the RC-20 for looping, please contact us.

Those of you who have an RC-20, we would love to hear what you think. Reviews, tips, etc., send it on in! Parts of the scan didn't OCR very well, but it's clear enough to understand. If you are buying it anyway, why not let some of your cash go to your favorite web site? Thanks. Compared to its much bigger brothers, the RC-30 and the RC-300, this looper is limited on features, but its portability at least makes up for that fact. The RC-3 Loop Station easily holds its own, both in features and price, compared to its bigger siblings. Let’s break this review down by asking a few of the most common questions about the RC-3: This is actually very helpful, and not as intrusive as it sounds: for the most part it is genuinely helpful. But is it good enough to use as a phrase looper whilst you’re playing live? However, for solo musicians, this pedal really can be a godsend, especially for postrock or “arty” players: the potential to create soundscapes well beyond the scope of a single musician really is limitless. We know that the cellist Zoe Keating uses phrase looping during her performances, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see an RC series looper beneath her toes. A couple of options help the RC-3 suit itself to your preferences; Auto-Start functionality can make it so the pedal only starts looping when you start playing, rather than hit the pedal. If you’re playing reggae or especially off-beat chops, this could be a little problematic, or if your line is especially noisy this could also be a problem. Best to experiment. The RC3 also offers auto-rerecord or plain playback looping, meaning that you can choose between layering another pass as soon as you’ve finished recording the first take, or just playing the recording back. You’ll find yourself changing this setting relatively often, depending on the song you’re playing (at least, I do) so it is nice to have the option.

It’s not so easy you won’t need to put hours and hours of practice in though: I recommend introducing it in the practice space to see whether your live act will work with a looper. You can create unique changes and really get outside of your own head by looping a basic idea and then throwing some uncharacteristic chords at it. With the aux in jack and the ability to slow loops down without changing pitch, you’ve got a formidable practice tool in the RC-3. Due to the previously mentioned auto-rerecord, quantise and start options, the pedal can quickly and comfortably be figured out. With its USB out, aux in and 99 memory banks (including 10 backing tracks loaded onto patches 90-99) this pedal could be all the loop station you ever need. The bigger loopers have got more features than the RC-3, of course: both the RC-30 and RC-300 have effects you can add to each loop, but we can’t think of a practical use for them.Sell your other pedals, dog or mother in law to be able to afford one. The Nano Looper 360 is a small, extremely easy to use looper with a total of 360-seconds of loop recording time. Not only that, the available 360 seconds can be divided into 11 different Loops, so you get the most out of the available memory. You can think of the Nano Looper 360 as your very own “Loop Locker.”. Using the wrong adapter or plug polarity may damage your unit and void the warranty. Your dry signal remains at unity signal level from input to output.

The dry signal also remains analog throughout the 360. When scrolling through loops, the MEM LED flashes quickly during transitions. If the loop has no recorded memory, the MEM LED remains off. If the loop has recorded memory, the MEM LED remains on and playback can begin. The input impedance is 2.2M Ohm. The output impedance is 470 Ohm. The Nano Looper 360 draws 90mA at 9VDC with a center negative plug. The REC LED will light solid and recording begins immediately. 2. To stop recording the loop, press the Footswitch again once. The REC LED will turn off, the PLAY LED will turn on, and the loop will begin playing immediately. The MEM LED will also light solid, indicating the presence of recorded loop memory. 3. All Loops play indefinitely. Each time the loop repeats, the PLAY LED will turn off briefly. 4. After a loop is recorded, the length is subtracted from the total loop recording time. 5. Note: if the full 360 seconds of Loop Recording time is reached, recording will stop automatically. The REC LED will turn off, the PLAY LED will turn on, and the Loop will begin playing immediately. The MEM LED will also light solid, indicating the presence of recorded loop memory. Both LEDs turn off during the second press and playback stops immediately. 3. While stopped, press and release the Footswitch once to start playback. The PLAY LED will light indicating the loop is playing. If a loop is not playing, press the Footswitch once to begin playback. The PLAY LED will turn on and the loop will begin playing immediately. 2. To start recording an overdub, press the Footswitch once. The REC LED will turn on, together with the PLAY LED, and audio will be recorded on top of the original loop. No volume loss will occur to the previously recorded portion of the loop. 3. To stop overdubbing the loop; press the Footswitch again once. The REC LED will turn off, and the loop will continue playing along with the overdubbed audio. 4. Overdubbing will never change the length of the loop.

5. If the loop repeats during overdubbing, the REC LED and PLAY LED will both turn off briefly. The Nano Looper 360 can overdub indefinitely, allowing you to continuously overdub new audio onto your loop. 6. After finishing an Overdub, the UNDO-REDO function is enabled. You may undo, then redo the last Overdub as many times as you like. The PLAY LED will blink twice and the previous overdub will be restored. 4. Note: once UNDO-REDO is enabled, this function is available until the loop is erased. This is true even if returning to a loop from a previous selection, or even after power cycling. If a loop is playing, press the Footswitch two times quickly. 2. Press and hold the Footswitch for 2 seconds. The MEM LED will blink six times then remain off, indicating the loop is erased. 3. Note: the ERASE function is only enabled when the loop has recorded memory, as indicated by the MEM LED remaining lit. Power cycling does not erase loops unless power is cut while recording the loop. Any loop or overdub that was being recorded at the time of power loss will not be saved by the 360. 3. After a loop is recorded, the length is subtracted from the total loop recording time. For example, if a 60 second loop is recorded on Loop 1, there are 300 seconds still available for Loops 2-11. Overdubbing on top of any given loop does not subtract from total loop recording time. 4. When the full 360-seconds of loop recording time is depleted, recording a new loop is inhibited. If an empty Loop is selected and recording is attempted, the MEM-LED will blink twice. To free-up recording memory, select a loop with recorded memory and erase it. Factory restore will not begin until all three LEDs are blinking. If you change your mind before the three LEDs begin to blink, release the footswitch or move the LOOP knob to another loop location other than 11. 4. Once all three LEDs start blinking you can release the footswitch.

After the process is complete, the MEM LED will flash quickly and Loop 11 will be selected. 5. Note: All Loop audio is erased during Factory Restore, and the process cannot be undone. Each wound string is precision wrapped with round nickel-plated steel onto a high carbon, hexagon-shaped steel core. The plain strings are made from the same high carbon steel as the hex cores. The high quality steel and computer controlled winding process results in strings that intonate accurately, are better at staying in tune and vibrate evenly for maximum sustain.

It’s emblazoned with the iconic Electro-Harmonix Flashback logo in white on the left chest and back. First, no matter how long you’re in overdub mode, the older material doesn’t age, fade, die or degrade. The RC-202 has two separate stereo tracks, each of any length. The only practical limit appears to be the 2GB maximum file size. Data are stored in WAV format (16-bit, 44.1kHz) and the internal capacity allows for up to three hours of recording time — seriously. Your time can be allocated freely amongst eight banks, each with eight phrase memories (the contents of the two tracks). Best of all you can write during playback and therefore develop song-like structures on the fly. Furthermore, at a press of the Memory button, the eight FX buttons act as phrase selectors, with the added advantage that the empty ones are quickly identified. There’s generous use of colour throughout: red, green, purple, orange and blue are all available to link tracks to effects, show playback direction, running mode and so forth. It’s not all plain sailing though, as the minimal display introduces a few challenges. Not only are all the effect algorithms reduced to three-character abbreviations, but their parameters are similarly abbreviated, so you have quite a lot to remember. It’s worth downloading the parameter guide and keeping it close to the printed owner’s manual. This, incidentally, looks reassuringly thick and engrossing.Input levels are represented clearly in green, amber or red and there’s a dedicated knob on hand to keep overloads at bay. The process must work smoothly because I never needed to give it a thought, and I didn’t lose sync once. If you don’t like what you hear, you can undo the last recording or trash the whole thing at any stage and start over. Assuming you’re happy, the exercise is then repeated for the second track, saving your work to new phrase memories as you go if necessary.
