- The Senior Unix Administrator is a member of the Production Support team which is charged with maintaining the performance and availability of the production services of Korea office and where applicable ensuring that these production services meet or exceed their prescribed SLAs.
- The role involves understanding the design and implementation of the production services and associated systems including how they function from end to end. The senior Unix Administrator is also responsible for planning and execution of programs and projects that deliver new systems and infrastructure as well as continuing to provide support and work closely with IT Team Leader, advice to Infrastructure manager for the design and architectural process.
- Manage the performance of UNIX systems administration team and sub-manage Wintel systems administration team.
- Define, implement and monitor KPIs for the team, in alignment with the overall Operational Plan.
- Ensure that the team members understand and are committed to the fulfillment of the Operational Plan, including meeting (or exceeding) relevant SLA’s.
- Ensure that the availability of Korea Production Services is maintained at the highest possible level. Examples of tasks that may be required to maintain Service availability include ensuring:
• Server and Network Availability.
• Appropriate Backup facilities are in place and functioning.
• Sufficient redundancy for critical components.
• Appropriate monitoring and early warning systems are in place and functioning
• Suggestions for improvements are made, and where appropriate, implemented
- Ensure that the performance of Korea Production Services is maintained at the highest possible level
- Ensure that the security of all Korea Production Services is maintained at the highest possible level.
- Ensure that the processes and procedures involving all Korea production services are kept up to date, and are being followed appropriately
- Ensure that all Unix and network configuration systems have fully functional offsite backups which are checked daily and restore-tested on a quarterly basis. The Unix Administrator is responsible for the Disaster Recovery readiness of the Linux and network configuration/database and will assist and advise Infrastructure Manager as to the readiness of these systems.
- Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.

Requirements
- Experience, Knowledge and proficient in the use of :
Unix AIX / Sun Solaris system administration
Shell scripting experience
System level support for Oracle application and database Servers, Java application servers, Websphere or other large-scale databases in a UNIX environment
Networking services and protocols: TCP/IP, NIS, DNS, NFS, LDAP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, SNMP, SSL, HTTP.
Cisco / Extreme or similar
SAN Hardware management / support
- Language skills :
Good written and verbal communication skills both English and Korean with the ability to communicate Technical terminology to people with limited or no technical understanding. |
